Signing-Up for Campouts

Think of weekends of hiking, campfires and sleeping under the stars, and you visions of boy scout forms and other paperwork probably do not immediately pop into your head. Yet, before we can head out on our adventures, there are some administrative tasks to do. For scouts and their parents, especially those new to the troop, it can be a little unclear which forms we need and to whom they must be submitted. To make the paperwork process easier, we have put together a checklist. So before you pull out your backpack and start planning your outdoor menu, go through the checklist below to make sure that you have taken care of the necessary paperwork.  If you have questions about forms and paperwork, feel free to send an email to activities@troop1018.org.

Paperwork for Scouts

  • Submit a completed Youth BSA membership application

  • Submitted a signed BSA medical form and release.
    For weekend campouts, you must complete parts A and .
    For activities 72 hours or longer, you must complete parts A, B & C. Part C must be completed by a doctor.  Medical forms are good for one year. 

  • Submit a troop permission slip, signed by a parent or guardian.

  • Sign-up for activity by stated deadline (usually the Monday before a weekend campout), as instructed by troop leaders.
    Be sure to cancel by the stated deadline, if it turns out you cannot attend.

  • Submit activity fee to troop treasurer. Fill out a payment form, staple your check to it, and drop it in the shoebox at the next troop meeting.

 

Paperwork for Adults

  • Successfully complete the BSA's online youth protection training course and submit a copy of their completion certificate to the troop's training coordinator.

  • Submitted a signed BSA medical form and release.
    For weekend campouts, you must complete parts A and .
    For activities 72 hours or longer, you must complete parts A, B & C. Part C must be completed by a doctor.  Medical forms are good for one year.

  • Sign-up for activity by stated deadline (usually the Monday before a weekend campout), as instructed by troop leaders.

  • If you plan to provide transporatation to others, submit drivers licence, automobile registration (license plate number), and auto-insurance liability limits to troop's activity coordinator.
